Energy Protection, Without the Fear

How I think about protecting my energy now: less about shielding from other people, more about boundaries, rest and knowing what's mine to carry.

When I first learned about energy protection, a lot of it was framed around fear: other people draining you, bad energy everywhere, needing to shield yourself constantly. I practised it that way for years. Honestly, it made me more anxious, not less.

My approach is gentler now — and I find it works better.

What “protecting my energy” means to me now

It’s mostly about boundaries and self-awareness, not armour. It means noticing what leaves me feeling depleted and what fills me back up, and making choices from there.

My everyday energy reset

  • Notice. Before reacting, I ask: is this feeling mine, or did I pick it up somewhere?
  • Breathe it out. A few slow exhales, imagining I’m releasing what isn’t mine.
  • Clear the space. Open a window, wash my hands with intention, step outside for a moment.
  • Come back to my body. A short walk, a stretch, a glass of water.
  • Rest when it’s rest I need. Sometimes “low energy” is just tiredness. And that’s allowed.

Letting go of the fear

You don’t need to be scared of other people’s energy. You can be open, warm and connected — and still know where you end and they begin. For me, that’s what grounded spirituality looks like.

This reflects my personal beliefs and experience. Take what resonates and leave the rest.
